RT’s Restaurant: Restaurant Review

This one has been on our list to visit for a while but we just couldn’t manage to make it there until now, and man were we not disappointed.

So the first thing you will notice about RT’s is that it is somewhat out of place in its location. You can tell that its one of those places that has been there a long time and the neighborhood has changed around it. But once you walk into the place, you feel like you could be sitting in a joint right on the Bayou. The place has a great atmosphere. So to start off we ordered a few appetizers. We ordered the Southern Fried Calamari with a spicy Cajun Remoulaude. This calamari was cooked perfectly, not rubbery like you will find some places and the remoulaude simply took it over the top. Then we ordered Crawfish & Shrimp Beignets with Garlic Mayonnaise. Ok so I have had some beignets in my time but these were simply fabulous. The beignets were a very nice size and had great crawfish meat and three whole small shrimp. The flavor just blows your mind, its so complex.

Then it was on to the main course.  We had the Shrimp Norman, Deep Fried Gulf Shrimp & Lump Crab Etouffee, and let me tell you what this does to your mouth should be illegal in all 50 states plus Puerto Rico. I mean just succulent. We also had the Jambalaya Saute, Gulf Shrimp, Andouille Sausage, Spicy Roast Pork & Chicken Sauteed with Tomato, Onion & Sweet Peppers. Ok listen I know right now your mouth is doing like a straight drool well let me tell you something about this dish, that droll ain’t even enough. I am talking I put a bite in my mouth and my soul got happy. Just excellent with very bold yet simple flavors that are the staple in Louisiana.

Bottom line is you need to get to RT’s Restaurant ASAP, I’m talking like soon as you finish this article, matter of fact why are you still reading, GO!! RT’s Restaurant is a real taste of the Louisiana Bayou right here in Alexandria.

(Note: Lunch and Dinner menus do differ, so check out there website to make sure your dish is available when you go at www.rtsrestaurant.net, unless you go early in the morning around 11, reservations are recommended)
