“The Office” Will Lose Steve Carell Before The Season Ends

It’s sad, but it’s true. We’ve known for a while that Steve Carell, “Michael” would be leaving the office, but we kind of thought he’d stick around the entire season. Well according to executive producer Paul Lieberstein, who we’ve all come to know as “Toby”, “Steve will have a number of episodes that dramatize and lead up to Steve leaving,” the producer tells Vulture. “Then we’ll continue on for about four more episodes, and the spring will prove to be not about an actor leaving, but what happens in an office when a manager leaves and the chaos ensues and people vie for the job and are uncertain about their future.”

Again sad, but it’s showbiz. The show must go on, which is exactly the idea behind the early departure. Not for the future to be about Carell, and thus Michael leaving, but on building the foundation for the show to continue without him. Lieberstein goes on to say, “”It was about focusing the spring on the office and everybody else, and not just a character going. If the show was ending, it would be about that. But it’s not.”

Hopefully, this does not spell bad news for the series. I’m sure “The Office”can make it without him, but you got to admit – You loved watching “Michael” as the boss, and undoubtedly, you’ll miss him!
