Dallas Cowboys To Hire Rob Ryan As New Defensive Coordinator

RobRyanLooks like former Cleveland Browns defensive coordinator Rob Ryan is heading to the lone star state. According to reports by Sports Illustrated, Ryan has agreed to become the Cowboy’s new defensive coordinator. In case the name sounds familiar it should, Rob Ryan is the brother of New York Jets head coach Rex Ryan and son of former NFL head coach Buddy Ryan. And just in case you were wondering, the Cowboys will face the Jets next season, assuming their is a season with the lockout looming and all.

This past year under Ryan the Browns defense finished 20th in points allowed per game (20.8) and 22nd in yards allowed (350.1). He did that with a Browns team that features significantly less talent than the Cowboys so we should see those numbers improve this year. Cleveland went 5-11 for the second consecutive season and head coach Eric Mangini was fired.
