Will Smith And Jay-Z Team Up To Make Movies, First Up “Annie” Starring Willow Smith?

Overbrook Entertainment partners James Lassiter, Ken Stovitz, Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith have formed a joint venture with Shawn “JAY-Z” Carter to develop and produce major motion pictures. One of the projects being discussed is the re-imagination of the classic Broadway musical ANNIE starring Willow Smith. The film will be developed with Sony Pictures Entertainment and produced by Overbrook Entertainment and Jay-Z. This is hot, Will Smith is one of the hottest actors in the game when he wanna be (let’s all just act like Seven Pounds never happened) and Jay-Z is one of the greatest rappers to ever pick up a mic. Hopefully, this will get a lot more African Americans into leading roles because if they can continue to make movies starring Nick Cage then I know they can make a movie starring Idris Alba or somebody like that.

Something tells us they will be laughing all the way to the bank

The partnership began over dinner with Jada, Will, James Lassiter and JAY-Z, where they decided to co-invest in the now successful beauty products line Carol’s Daughter. They continued this partnership as co-producers of the successful Broadway production Fela!, which earned a total of eleven Tony Award nominations in 2010. This is what I am talking about black people getting together to help each other make this money, we better act like we know how to follow their lead.

On a side note in case you were wondring, Willow Smith’s “Whip My Hair” has been certified platinum (you all know you bought it). So what do you all think, how can you not love this?
