New Spiderman Movie Officially Titled “The Amazing Spider-Man”, Releasing July 3, 2012

spiderman-movieColumbia Pictures announced today that the title of the next Spider-Man film will be The Amazing Spider-Man. For those of you that are into the comics you will know that the title is actually a throwback to Spider-Man’s early comic book days. It’s going to be odd seeing anyone but Tobey Maguire play the webslinger but I guess it had to happen sometime. In the end, the studio felt that Maguire wanted too much money and that ultimately the fans cared more about the character of Spider-Man than the guy who plays him. The film, which is now in production and is being shot entirely in 3D, will be released on July 3, 2012. The film stars Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Denis Leary, Campbell Scott, Irrfan Khan, Martin Sheen, and Sally Field.  The film’s official website is

The studio simultaneously released a photo of Andrew Garfield as Spider-Man, the first shot of Garfield in the famous full mask and suit. What do you think, how does Garfield look?
